Find Me / Follow Me
Find Me / Follow Me is an advanced form of call forwarding for when a single “send everything to one number” rule (see Call Forwarding) is not enough. It lets you ring several of your phones - desk, mobile, home - either all at once or one after another, so an important call finds you wherever you are before it goes to voicemail.
You can specify up to 5 phone numbers, and choose whether they are dialed simultaneously (all ring together, first to answer wins) or sequentially (each is tried in turn, so calls prefer your desk before rolling to your mobile).
You can also choose whether the phone associated with your extension rings as part of the list, letting you keep your desk phone in the rotation or leave it out entirely.
Understanding the two modes
- Simultaneous - all listed numbers ring at the same time. Best when speed matters and you just want the call answered as fast as possible.
- Sequential - numbers are tried in order, each ringing for a while before the next. Best when you have a preferred order, such as desk first, then mobile, then a colleague.
Limiting when and for whom it applies
Find Me / Follow Me can apply to all callers, or only to calls from specific caller IDs that you list - useful for making sure only key contacts chase you across your phones. You can also select a time range (created by your administrator) to limit the hours when these rules are in effect, for example only during business hours.
You can also set a single follow-me number by dialing feature codes from your phone: *92 to activate and *93 to deactivate.
Tips
- Use sequential mode with your desk phone first so calls only reach your mobile when you are genuinely away.
- Add a trusted colleague as the last number in a sequential list as a safety net before voicemail.
- Pair with Call Screening so you can hear who is calling before accepting a call forwarded to your mobile.
- Save the numbers you use regularly and use Enable / Disable to switch the whole set on and off as needed.
