Company Directory

The Company Directory is your organization’s shared contact list - both internal users and external parties (customers, vendors, partners). It powers three things at once: the PBX dial-by-name directory that callers reach by spelling a name, contact lookup and click-to-call in Thirdlane Connect (where entries can also be saved as Personal Contacts), and caller-ID name matching so inbound calls show a recognizable name instead of a bare number. Maintaining it keeps everyone dialing the same up-to-date list rather than private, inconsistent copies.

Create/Edit Contact

This screen allows you to enter Contact information. Contacts with basic information (First and Last Name, extension, email) are created automatically when User Extensions are created either one at a time in the User Extensions section, or using Bulk Generator. Use this screen to add extra detail to those existing Contacts, and to create new records for “external” Contacts.

Best practices

  • Let user records be created by extension provisioning; use this screen mainly to enrich them and to add external contacts, so internal entries stay in sync with the underlying User Extensions.
  • Populate phone numbers on external contacts so inbound calls display a name - directory entries are what turn an unknown number into a recognizable caller.
  • To add many external contacts at once, use the Contactor CSV upload rather than entering them one by one.
