Call Recording

Call Recording lets you capture calls to and from your extension for later reference - useful for remembering the details of a conversation, resolving disputes, or training. This screen lets you choose exactly which categories of call are recorded (internal vs. external, incoming vs. outgoing), so you record what matters without capturing everything. The feature may be turned off by your administrator, in which case this screen will not appear, and finished recordings are listed under Recorded Calls.

Record All Calls. Specify whether all calls to/from your extension will be recorded.

Record Internal Incoming. Specify whether the internal calls to your extension will be recorded.

Record Internal Outgoing. Specify whether the internal calls from your extension will be recorded.

Record External Incoming. Specify whether the external calls to your extension will be recorded.

Record External Outgoing. Specify whether the external calls from your extension will be recorded.

Record by pressing *9. Specify whether you will be able to record calls by pressing *9.

Best practices

  • Know the rules where you are. Many places require informing or getting consent from the other party before recording - check your local laws and company policy before turning recording on.
  • Record selectively. Use the category options (for example, external calls only) or on-demand *9 recording rather than recording every call, which quickly consumes storage.
  • Use on-demand *9 when only occasional calls matter - you capture the important conversation without a standing recording policy.
