Voicemail Settings

Voicemail Settings control how you secure and receive your voicemail. The key choice here is voicemail-to-email: rather than dialing in to check for messages, you can have new voicemails emailed to you (optionally with the audio attached), so you see and hear them the moment they arrive - even from a device that is not your phone. This screen also sets the PIN that protects access to your mailbox.

Mailbox PIN. PIN for accessing mailbox.

Notify by email about new voicemail. Determines whether you will be notified about new voice mail messages via email.

Email Address. Your email address.

Attach messages to email. Determines whether the voicemail message will be attached to the notification email.

Delete after delivery. Determines whether voice mail message will be deleted after it is delivered via email.

Notify secondary email address. Determines whether you will be notified about new voice mail messages via a secondary email address if available.

Secondary Email Address. Your secondary email address.

Best practices

  • Set a non-obvious PIN. Avoid 1234, your extension, or repeated digits - the PIN is all that protects your messages from a phone-based mailbox break-in.
  • Turn on email notification with attachment so you can listen to messages anywhere; use a secondary address if you want a backup or a shared team inbox to be copied.
  • Weigh “Delete after delivery” carefully. It keeps your mailbox tidy, but once a message is emailed and deleted it is no longer in the system - keep it off if you rely on the mailbox as your record.
