Custom Screens
Custom Screens let you add your own links and menu folders to the Configuration Manager and the end-user portal. Use them to surface tools your team already relies on - a monitoring dashboard, an internal wiki, a ticketing system, a billing portal - right inside the Manager, so admins and users don’t have to leave the interface or hunt for bookmarks. You control who sees each item and whether it opens inline or in a new window.
Create/Edit Menu Item
Menu item text. The label shown in the Configuration Manager menu.
Node type. Whether this entry is a direct Link or a Folder that groups other links beneath it.
URL. The address the link opens. Applies to links only (not to folders that act as parents of other items).
Description. Text describing this link, shown on the index page of its parent folder.
Parent Menu Item. The folder this item lives under, used to build multi-level menus. Leave empty for a top-level item.
Show to tenants. Whether the item appears for all tenants or only selected ones.
Editable by tenant administrators. Whether tenant administrators can edit this item.
Show in management menu. Whether the link appears in the Configuration Manager menu, and to which administrators (for example everyone, or only specific admins).
Show in end-user menu. Whether the link appears in the end-user menu of the User Portal.
Open in a new window. Whether the link opens in a new browser window/tab instead of inside the Manager.
Weight (menu position). Controls ordering relative to other items - a higher weight places the link lower in the menu.
Example
To add a “System Information” tool link, create an item like this:
- Menu item text:
System Information - Node type:
Link - URL:
http://127.0.0.1/maint/phpsysinfo/ - Description:
Server and Linux info - Parent Menu Item: (leave empty for a top-level item, or pick a folder such as Tools)
- Show to tenants:
All tenants - Show in management menu: enabled, shown to
rootandadmin - Open in a new window: enabled
To build a submenu instead, first create a Folder node (for example Tools), then create individual Link items with Parent Menu Item set to that folder.
Best practices
- Group related links under a Folder rather than crowding the top level of the menu.
- Scope visibility deliberately. Show operational tools only to the administrators who need them, and keep tenant-facing links limited to the tenants that should see them.
- Open external tools in a new window so navigating away from a third-party site doesn’t lose the admin’s place in the Manager.
- Use weight to keep ordering stable as you add more items over time.
