CDR Reports

The CDR Reports section turns raw Call Detail Records into summarized traffic reports. Where CDR answers questions about individual calls, CDR Reports answer questions about patterns - how call volume rises and falls across the day, which days are busiest, and how traffic trends month over month. Use them for capacity planning, staffing decisions, and spotting unusual spikes.

CDR Reports let you specify a selection filter. You can filter by a number of fields, including range of dates, caller id, and source and destination channels.

Note that the users can only run CDR reports for the tenants they are allowed to manage.

Running queries against a large CDR creates a high load on the server, so we strongly recommend minimizing CDR record retention with “Keep CDR records for” in Tenant or system-wide Preferences where you can also specify “Maximum date range” to limit the date range allowed in records selection in Configuration Manager. We recommend moving any reporting to a different database or a separate server.

Clicking on “Run Reports” will run CDR reports and add each report to the Configuration Manager menu where it can be open as any other menu item.

Configuration Manager produces 3 CDR reports:

Traffic by Hours:

Traffic by Days:

Traffic by Months:

Clicking on “Export as PDF” or “Export as CSV” allows you to export a report in PDF or CSV format.

Best practices

  • Constrain the date range before running reports over a large CDR - the same load considerations that apply to CDR apply here.
  • Match the report grain to the question. Use Traffic by Hours to plan intra-day staffing, Traffic by Days to spot weekly patterns, and Traffic by Months for long-term trends.
  • Export to PDF for sharing, CSV for further analysis in a spreadsheet or BI tool.
