Connect Branding

Connect Branding lets you customize the Thirdlane Connect login screen and application appearance, as well as the branding used in system-generated emails. Use it to present Connect under your own (or your customer’s) company name, logo, and colors so end users see a consistent, familiar product instead of the default Thirdlane wordmark. Because branding can be set globally and overridden per tenant, a service provider can give each customer their own look on the same platform.

Connect App Tab

These settings control the visual appearance of the Connect login page and application.

FieldDescription
Application NameReplaces the browser tab title and login page heading (e.g. “Acme Connect”)
Primary ColorCSS hex color applied as the accent color for buttons and UI elements (e.g. #2563eb)
Secondary ColorCSS hex color used for secondary accents in emails and UI (e.g. #1e40af)
Logo URLURL to the logo image shown on the login screen. Use a URL from the Media Library.
Favicon URLURL to the favicon shown in browser tabs. Recommended size: 32x32 or 64x64 PNG.

Email Branding Tab

These settings control branding variables injected into system-generated emails (welcome messages, password resets, invitations). Values are available as template variables such as $BRAND_COMPANY, $BRAND_FROM_NAME, $BRAND_SUPPORT_EMAIL, and $BRAND_SUPPORT_URL.

FieldDescription
Company NameCompany name used in email subjects and body text. Falls back to Application Name if empty.
Email From NameName made available to templates as $BRAND_FROM_NAME, for templates that print it in their text
Support EmailSupport email address shown in outgoing emails
Support URLURL to your help or support page, included in email footers

When you are editing one tenant rather than the global defaults, two further fields appear. Unlike the ones above they are not template variables - they change the sender the recipient actually sees on that tenant’s voicemail notifications:

FieldDescription
Voicemail sender nameName shown in front of the address, such as “Acme Voicemail”. Empty uses the system sender name.
Voicemail sender addressAddress the notifications are sent from, such as [email protected]. Empty uses the system sender address.

Setting an address here moves the delivery decision onto a domain the tenant owns, so that domain needs its own DNS record authorising the platform to send for it. The check runs when you save and reports what to publish. Read Email Delivery before using these, and note they cover voicemail only - welcome messages, password resets and invites keep the system-wide sender.

Global vs. Tenant Branding

  • Platform > General Settings & Tools > Branding and Media > Connect sets the global defaults applied to all tenants that do not have their own branding.
  • Organization > Branding > Connect sets tenant-specific branding that overrides global defaults when that tenant’s users sign in.

Tenant-level settings are optional. Any field left empty at the tenant level inherits the global value.

How Branding is Applied

When a user opens the Connect login page, the browser fetches /api/connect/branding (an unauthenticated endpoint). If a tenant query parameter is present, the server returns tenant-specific branding; otherwise it returns the global defaults.

The login page:

  1. Sets document.title to the configured Application Name.
  2. Sets the --tl-brand-primary CSS variable to the configured Primary Color.
  3. Replaces the default wordmark with the configured Application Name text, or shows the custom Logo URL image if set.
  4. Updates the browser favicon with the Favicon URL.

This all happens before the user enters any credentials.

Image Hosting

Upload images to the Media Library and copy the public URL (in the form /public/media/filename.png) into the Logo URL or Favicon URL fields. Images are served by nginx with CORS headers enabled so they can be loaded from any origin.

Best practices

  • Set sensible global defaults first, then override per tenant only where a customer needs their own identity. Empty tenant fields inherit the global value, so you do not have to re-enter shared settings.
  • Host logos and favicons in the Media Library rather than linking to an external site - self-hosted images load faster, stay available, and are served with the correct CORS headers.
  • Use a high-contrast Primary Color that reads well against both light and dark backgrounds, and keep it consistent with your other customer-facing materials.
  • Fill in Email Branding (Company Name, From Name, Support Email/URL) so welcome messages, password resets, and invitations look like they come from you, not a generic system address.
