System Logs

The System Logs section lets you view and search the relevant log files the system manages - including PBX, Kamailio (SIP routing), and general system logs - from the web GUI, without needing shell access to the server. When a call misbehaves, a service fails to start, or you need to confirm what the system actually did, the logs hold the ground truth. This screen brings them together so you can find the answer quickly.

View Search/System Log

This screen allows you to view the most recent log file records, or search a selected log file for specific information. Pick the log file that matches the layer you are investigating, then read the latest entries or search for a keyword (an extension number, IP address, or error text) to jump to the relevant lines.

Best practices

  • Search for a specific identifier - an extension, phone number, or IP address - rather than scrolling; it is far faster to find the events that matter.
  • Match the log to the symptom. Use PBX logs for call handling and features, Kamailio/SIP logs for registration and routing between servers, and system logs for service and OS-level issues.
  • Correlate with other tools. Pair log evidence with the Change Log (what changed) and System Audit (what is inconsistent) to move from symptom to cause.
  • Note the timestamp and time zone. Logs are recorded in server time; keep that in mind when matching a log entry to a user-reported time.
